It never occurred to me what was missing from my career until I met my (now former) manager Dan at Becton Dickinson (BD). Dan has this remarkable ability to motivate not only me, but people around him. Through his inspirational words, actions, and energy he is constantly able to successfully steer and provide vision for the team. Other managers and groups highly respected his work and team, as we are able to consistently deliver through his direction. Having a successful well regarded ‘A’ Team is only the front end, but what most people don’t see is how much effort he puts into us on the backend. While he understood the big company picture, he made sure to prioritize the team to make balance decisions. He operated under the servant leadership philosophy, making sure our road blocks were cleared, our career developments were being fulfilled, and ultimately giving us projects that gave us purpose while fulfilling the business needs. He was open and honest with us which made the hard long days worthwhile, and the fun exciting days lasting. Still today we maintain a close working relationship, even though we aren’t in the same group any longer, the amount of time he has invested and is still investing in me for my success is absolutely priceless. When he left we were extremely happy for him, but we suffered an extreme lost. That energy, cohesiveness, and directions just hasn’t been the same. The team and I have been forever changed for the better thanks to Dan. Finding a good manager and leader isn’t something that just happens, but when it does- you’ll be wondering how you will ever be able to perform so well without him. Thank you Dan for all guidance and leadership!

Product Line Manager (Manufacturing Manager)
-
Feb 2015 - Jun 2017
Led a team to build and support a ~$400M annual revenue medical product line. I had 7 direct reports consisting of a production supervisor, a mechanical engineer, an electrical engineer, and 4 manufacturing engineers. I had dotted line management of a supply chain professional, 2 quality engineers and documentation control. The product was a medical technology electro-mechanical assembly. The product is made to order with a relatively short lead-time - this requires special attention on production headcount and the supply chain.
