As a graduate student, I had the opportunity to be a teacher assistant in the intermediate level of the C programming class offered by my department. This course covers the topics of pointers, trees, sorts, and recursion, through 30 exercises.I was in charge of checking the programs from 5 students, as well as clarifying points and questions they might have when solving each exercise, and were not able to realize by themselves. It was a great opportunity to review the topics I have learned in the same class a few years ago. I had the opportunity to be the teacher assistant in the classes where the professor from my lab explains the duties in a lab, and how research is conducted. Since the focus of the lab is machine learning, the first half of the curse was responsible for covering the Python basics, NumPy, and matplotlib. For the latter half, each student had to create a simple model with machine learning using Python, and I was responsible for answering questions from the students, together with the professor. The topics the students have chosen included text generation, image analysis, image generation, and translation between two different dialects in Japan.Since my research field is related to text generation, I was asked to help the students who needed to implement a sort of chatbot, converting voice into text, and text translation. It was a great opportunity to reinforce my knowledge about Python, being applied to topics slightly different from the ones I was used to. Show less

The objective was to assist Master's and Doctor's students from the Robot Learning Group at Osaka University by doing some simpler tasks. It was done mainly during my 3rd year of Bachelor's course, and my personal interest was to check whether I could fit in this laboratory, once I was planning to apply to it in my 4th year. It turned out that it actually went well with me joining the lab in the following year and continuing to my Master's. The work moved around the Human Support Robot (HSR) developed by Toyota. There were still a lot of tools I have not known yet, such as Docker, ROS, bash files, and Blender, that were complicated to understand at first, but with the help of the senior students, I was able to learn the basics.
