    • Senior Director of Business Development
      • Jul 1988 - Jul 1992

Progressed from Branch Manager to Senior Director of Business Development. Managed system development and implementation of the first local area networks at Volt from development mode into a production mode. We used it as a data entry production machine, with new added capabilities like lan printers, mainframe connections via a multitude of connections and linkages (tape, telecommunications, direct links, implementing first version Ethernet, etc.). I enhanced Volts publishing systems further by adding the CD-ROM database publishing capability to their repertoire of publishing options, including phototypesetting by Autologic typesetters, large-scale production laser printers manufactured by Xerox and Kodak, among other input and output forms. Scanning graphic and storing them in databases and publishing them was one of Volt's strengths. I also assisted with the implementaiton sof systems for the VColt Directory data tyellow pages production system. I also build specialized CD-ROM database publishing systems for the US Navy, which saves the Department of Defense $2,000,000 per year, recurring and increasing with inflation. The system eliminated an entire warehouse full of pre-printed pages needed to support the US Navy's Planned Maintenance System. We extended the system to assist the procedure authors with a specialized editor, based on SGML, and late HTML. I incorporated laser printer output with "On Demand Printing" for order fulfillment at the Navy Printing and Publishing facilities, using the Planned Maintenance System as the prototype project. I reported directly to the Executive Vice President.

    • Director of Programming
      • Sep 1979 - Jun 1987

Progressed from Programmer Analyst to Director of Programming. I developed systems for customized production information processing systems, building databases from paper procedures, and implementing computerized publishing systems, with a wide variety of input forms and out media, from punched paper tale tpo camera-ready copy for printing to magentic tape and CD-ROM distribution forms. We used a wide variety of IBM languages, machines and utilities to build these repetitive computer publishing systems. Company was purchased by EDS in 1987. I stayed one more year.
