I had the pleasure of working with Danny at The Movement UK for just under four months, and I was welcomed into the 'behind the scenes' success of an events company. I learnt, and I was supported in developing skills in social media management for a business, event marketing and how to build an appropriate audience. Danny was efficient in communicating the goals and objectives that allowed me to build upon my skills repertoire. Danny was innovative in creating ways to overcome any problems we faced and made sure we were rewarded appropriately for our hard work with treats such as having meals out together. Danny was a great manager and would be an asset to any team or project as an entrepreneur and leader.

Event Organiser & Brand Manager
-
Mar 2015 - Jun 2017
- Generated my own experience in the events sector whilst at University. Experience in: • Event Planning - knowing what would make a successful event, brainstorming with a team. • Asset Gathering - both digital (graphics) and physical (music, decor, etc.) content. • Venue Liaison - negotiating with the venue to allow us to host our event with them • Marketing & Promotion - creating & implementing marketing strategies, utilising promotional platforms such as social media and physical such as the use of flyers, ticket reps etc. • Event Managing - successfully running the event on the night whilst in contact with Venue management & Performers to ensure a smooth outcome. - Established 'The Movement UK' as a brand and a sole trader in March 2015. - Core primary aim of 'Revolutionising the Standard in Nightlife Entertainment". - Created content driven events in my free time alongside my studies. - Observed a gap in the market, with a lack of more entertainment driven events not being delivered to the large student and professional population. - Utilised previous contacts within the performing arts industry gained from past employments, to create a diverse product that was set apart from the local competition. - Created an immersive experience in the environment of a 250 capacity bar with positive feedback. - Across 3 events and over 4 months, attendance increased from 100 to 1200 as the popularity of the brand grew. - Adapted to growth - ensuring to increase the amount of entertainment as the numbers also increased. - Themes were implemented for our product to ensure we stayed ahead of the competition (this also allowed us to experiment greatly with event decor). - Themes included big production style nights, a circus themed halloween night, a 1920s speakeasy night & an Alice in Wonderland inspired night to name a few. - By October 2015, the demand for our product was so great we were consistently selling out days before the events. Promotions Specialist
-
Jun 2015 - Oct 2015
- The only "in-house" member of the Coalition Venue's promotion staff (a busy, multi-functional Venue on Brighton's seafront in the heart of the city). - Acted as a Promotions Specialist, liaising between the various Promoters of the Coalition site in Brighton and the Venue management. - Observed the working relationship between the Promoter and the Venue. The role allowed me to: • further develop my understanding of what makes a regular weekly session successful, • observe the Promoters constantly developing their content to appeal to the needs of their clientele, • observe the Promoters continually utilising changing trends and techniques in social media marketing to sell their product, • observe the Venue working with the Promoter, expressing their ideas, concerns & expectations of them. One notable experience I had whilst being in this position was observing the handling of an accused copyright infringement. This has since developed my understanding of branding trademarks & copyright, and intellectual property within the nightlife & events industry. Show less

Promotions Manager
-
Oct 2013 - Jun 2014
I embarked upon this role at 18 when I left sixth form for my gap year. I had an interest in events, sales and marketing, and was keen to hone these skills during my year out of education within the social environment of the hospitality industry. Whilst initially starting as a bar tender at the venue, my passion towards sales and generating footfall was noted by the management and I was offered the role of Promotion Manager within the company. I was the first Promotion Manager at the site, a position which I held for a number of months before leaving the city for University. I was also the Promotion Manager of the site during a six-figure investment that transformed the venue into Broad Street's premium drinking and dining venue. I worked the launch nights following the "evolution" which greatly exceeded target expectations. My primary roles as Promotion Manager at the venue included: ▻ manage and incentivise a street promotions team, ▻ create & implement strategies to drive footfall to the venue, ▻ create midweek content to drive a student clientele to the venue, ▻ liaise with management regarding strategies, ▻ liaise with external promoters. I also personally created "promoter training" presentations, which helped our street promotion team increase footfall to the venue. It focussed on the use of more open-ended questions to create a dialogue with the customer, building rapport and trust. Thus, creating an easier way to sell our product to our clientele with a much higher success rate. Whilst Promotion Manager at the venue, I also planned and executed my first nightlife event on a midweek Tuesday night. The night was a resounding success, garnering praise form all levels of the team & management at the venue. This gave me my first flavour of the nighttime events & entertainment industry, which ultimately influenced my decisions thereafter and my career to date. Show less

Promoter

Sep 2013 - Mar 2014
In order to gain more experience of the student events market, I embarked upon a role as a Promoter within Vodbull UK. Vodbull provided me with the opportunity to hone my marketing skills. I worked shifts that involved marketing Vodbull's various events to the mammoth student population across Birmingham's universities. This involved working both day shifts and night shifts, giving me invaluable experience of both and highlighting the differences between the two, and how best to engage with each clientele. Through working this role, I was able to grow my own network base and was introduced to the power and value of networking. With consistent engagement of this network and listening to their needs, I was able to routinely sell Vodbull's product to them. Show less
