Riley A.

I worked alongside Danielle for my computer science senior capstone project in undergrad. Danielle served as sponsor and point-of-contact for the GUMBO collaboration project myself and my teammates contributed to. Our project was to develop an extension for developer tools used by Adventium Lab engineers, a subject matter that Danielle was incredibly knowledgeable on. Prior to the capstone, neither myself nor my teammates were familiar with system modeling and engineering at all; having completed the project, I would say Danielle turned us into experts. Danielle was the perfect sponsor for a project of this caliber through a dedicated attention to detail and extraordinary communication skills. Danielle was never afraid to jump in and explore the code or issues we were facing within the extensions while simultaneously capable of breaking down the brainiest concepts Adventium used on a daily for us to understand. Overall, I looked forward to meeting with Danielle every week for our catch-up meetings and was never afraid to talk whether in-person or email, whether about the project or about plans after graduation. Danielle was a great representative from Adventium Labs, a truly talented mentor, and just a plain nice person to get to meet.

I was a tutor of science and mathematics in the Learning Center at Lake Superior College. This was a drop-in tutoring center where students came with their questions for a variety of classes. For the first year, I worked mainly as a Chemistry tutor and eventually moved into Mathematics lab for the last year of my employment. I organized and led study sessions and answered questions one on one for the students. I was a tutor of science and mathematics in the Learning Center at Lake Superior College. As a case worker for homeless youth between the ages of 15 and 21, I assisted youth in completing educational goals, finding stable living environments, and making healthy lifestyle choices. The transitional living program had a long term shelter available for those wishing to complete case plans within the agency. As a Youth Worker, I assigned specific tasks and held the youth accountable to their case plans. In the program was a clinic that I often assisted with cleaning, organizing, and general help.
