I first met Danielle when she served as an environmental education Volunteer with Peace Corps Mexico. Danielle was in the first cohort that I trained and supervised, but her work still stands out - she had an impressive level of reliability and dedication to our mission. To meet the high standards for our program’s EE objectives, PCVs must be culturally competent and also effectively engage community partners, youth and adults on environmental themes in a foreign setting and language. Danielle achieved both at her rural site in the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve of Queretaro state, demonstrating lasting commitment to her collaborators and environmental conservation and gender equity goals. For her USAID funded project "Women in Nature," Danielle performed a community based assessment of her site’s needs, and designed, fundraised and implemented an event in her community that not only resulted in positive measurable impacts in terms of ecological knowledge and life skills, but also made an intangibly positive effect in the lives of young women of the region. In addition to applying her skills at project management, monitoring and evaluation at site, Danielle showed her support for the collective by lending her expertise to our post M&E committee, and her work and indefatigability served as a positive model for fellow PCVs. It's a pleasure and honor to work with Danielle!
