Responsibilities included:• Managing an annual budget of over AUD 1 billion across operating and capital initiatives to align with the organisational business plan and for use in monitoring progress towards goals and objectives.• Engagement and relationship building with project managers to gain an understanding of high profile infrastructure projects, enabling identification of risks and provision of value adding advice to the project management team.• Provide variance analysis identifying cost and schedule variances to inform senior management of project status and assist in the development of strategies to mitigate budget overruns or project delays.• Preparing tax adjustment journals relating to property acquisitions to correctly recognise the GST component of the acquisition value when settlement occurs (GSTR 2000/28).• Monitoring and performing reconciliations on WIP accounts to ensure the timely capitalisation of asset additions of over AUD 300 million per annum, ranging from preventative maintenance to large capital works projects, in conformance with AASB Property, Plant and Equipment accounting standards.• Preparation of notes for the Department’s Financial Statements regarding asset additions and disposals, and movements in the WIP and Revaluation accounts.• Responsibility for the secretariat function at executive level committee meetings to capture in a professional and concise manner decisions made, actions arising, and strategies formed.
