My thesis research elucidated basal ganglia function and behavioral control in the contexts of drug addiction and Parkinson's disease. To this end, I led sophisticated rodent behavioral training paradigms paired with assessments of neurobiological activity, including real-time neurotransmitter imaging and in situ assays of neural functioning, integrity, and gene expression. Also during my time at the University of Utah, I investigated brain-wide activity during peak religious experience in humans using fMRI techniques. Skills: Instrumental Conditioning · Behavioral Testing · Stereotaxic Rodent Surgery · in-slice Glutamate Imaging (iGluSnFr) · Fluorescence in-situ Imaging (catFISH) · In-situ Autoradiography · Motor Control Assays · Anxiety Assays · fMRI· Experimental Design · Statistical Analysis and Interpretation · Academic Writing · Public Speaking Show less
