My role also involves supporting the operations management and delivery of our brand new Connected Futures Fund which has been set up to help young people in to employment through local systems change, as well as working with our Strategy and Policy teams to spot opportunities and develop meaningful solutions for wider systems change across our portfolio. I am also a member of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee and co-champion of our Future Voices Group which involves working directly with young people from marginalised backgrounds, in collaboration with the British Youth Council, to put youth voice at the forefront of our decision making and idea generation. Programme Delivery Coordinator - Secondee
-
Mar 2020 - Aug 2020
During my time at EY I took part in a secondment with the EY Foundation as a Programme Delivery Co-ordinator. The EY Foundation’s main goal is to help support young people in to employment, higher education, training or enterprise. I was involved in the delivery of three programmes, Accelerate, Smart Futures, and the Professional Services Programme. Accelerate is a programme set up by the EY Foundation to help support social entrepreneurs from all over the UK. My main achievement in relation to this programme was designing, creating and publishing a bi-weekly newsletter to go out to the entire cohort to share news, useful information and a positive attitude during the pandemic. The other programme I was heavily involved with was the Smart Futures programme in Birmingham. This programme is usually delivered in person at EY’s Birmingham office however due to the Covid-19 crisis the EY Foundation rallied together in order to develop the programme virtually. Alongside a brilliant team I believe I played a key role in the successful delivery of this programme in 2020. My responsibilities included; - Interviewing candidates, - Managing the virtual right to work document checks for the entire cohort, - Requesting and tracking the receipt of important on-boarding documents, - Working with the PMO team to organise the content, logistics, facilitators and volunteers required for the delivery of virtual sessions. - Delivery of a number of virtual sessions such as the employer insights session. - Managing and supporting young people to gain a level 2 qualification in team leading accredited by the Chartered Management Institute resulting in a 100% pass rate. I also helped to deliver the Easter 2021 cohort of the professional services programme which was also a great success.

Team Leader
-
Jun 2016 - Aug 2016
Over the summer of 2016 I took on the role of an NCS Team Leader. NCS for those of you who may not have heard of it is an organisation supported by the government that engages with 15-17 year olds and gives them the opportunity to make new friends whilst developing vital skills by taking part in challenging activities such as rock climbing, caving, hiking, social action projects and much more. NCS is growing significantly and engages with hundreds of thousands of young people every year. During 2016 I took part in two 'waves' each lasting 4 weeks. As an NCS Team Leader I was responsible for teams of 15 young people, ensuring their safety throughout the 4 week programme, as well as motivating them to participate fully in each activity - on top of moulding them in to a functional team and highlighting their achievements through regular reflection. During the summer programme each team is given two weeks to plan and complete a social action project, both of my teams chose to fundraise for the first week and then use that money to rejuvenate the gardens of local residential care homes. I believe that this experience was extremely valuable for both myself and these young people. I received some very positive feedback from not only my senior managers, but also the managers from the care homes - I also received thank you cards from both care homes, as well as both of my teams which was very rewarding. I also received a card specifically from one member of a team who had many physical challenges as a token of his appreciation for the support I had shown throughout his time with NCS, he overcame fears and challenges and took part in every activity where it was safe for him to do so. The skills I developed included; time management, communication, presentation skill / public speaking, project management skills and many more.

Work Experience
-
Jun 2016 - Jun 2016
After my first year at university I successfully completed one week of work experience at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce. I was presented with a number of diverse tasks ranging from HR administration to my own bespoke marketing project which was to come up with a marketing proposal on how to encourage more bookings for a particular range of training courses currently delivered at the chamber. I took part in a digital marketing course to support my project and positive feedback was given to my proposal. I was also present for the black-tie Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2016, I helped to set up the venue ready for the arrival of 500+ guests from local businesses and then helped to direct them to their assigned tables, whilst networking.

Upper Arley Riverside Tearooms and General Store
-
Upper Arley, Bewdley, Worcestershire
-
Shop Supervisor
-
Feb 2011 - Apr 2016
I supervised Upper Arley's general store for a significant amount of time primarily during weekends and school holidays. The store is located in a beautiful, secluded area set alongside the River Severn and the Severn Valley Railway, which caters to thousands of visitors every year. I developed a number of key employability skills during this position that I have carried through in to future endeavours for example: I developed my confidence and verbal communication skills considerably by engaging directly with the public, whilst delivering excellent customer service, skills that I have used in many positions since. Throughout my time in the position I gained a considerable amount of cash handling experience, which I have also used in many positions since. I helped to manage customer accounts / credit regularly, as well as continuously helping to create a more efficient management system through the use of Microsoft Office. Similarly I was always helping to develop the business wherever necessary for example I helped to improve the customer journey by working with the owners to improve the layout of the store. When the business changed hands I was the longest serving member of staff, which meant that I helped to mentor the new owners for a few weeks after they had moved in, developing Microsoft Office documents to support them and get them in to a routine.

Supervisor
-
Apr 2014 - Sep 2015
I was given a lot of responsibility during my time at The Royal Oak which helped me to develop a number of key employability skills. I was required to help train members of staff and take care of the weekly rota, I was often left completely alone to; serve at the bar, take food orders in the restaurant, and replenish stock - which was challenging, but it helped me to develop skills such as time management, problem solving and much more. There were a number of occasions where there would be disagreements between the customers or a member of staff and a customer, which is where I also developed conflict resolution skills, and demonstrated resilience.

This was an extremely exciting work experience position, through which I learnt a lot about the day to day running of a small business. I took part in tasks such as marketing, packing & distribution and administration which was brilliant as it enabled me to try out the different functions, and determine which interested me the most. This was a very valuable experience to have at that age and an experience that helped to convince me that business really was the path I wanted to go down in the future. The company is one of Theo Paphitis's most successful investments on "Dragon's Den" and is still continuing to grow their product range and global reach.
