  As a member of a small onsite staff (4), my responsibilities evolve daily to contribute to the current needs of YMCA Camp Cherokee. I am flexible and able to adapt to situations as they arise, seek new projects, and research in depth to ensure I develop ideas to the fullest and most optimal extent.My successes in the past year include:-Planning and facilitating two BOLD & GOLD wilderness program day events to promote outdoor education and program enrollment-Researching and implementing sustainable practices for camp programs, including composting, recycling, and food waste reduction programs-Teaching environmental education classes for grades 4K-6th (water ecology, beaver life, forest ecology, and more)-Launching an online store enabling Camp to sell merchandise online-Interviewing candidates for a position as a BOLD & GOLD backpacking instructor-Coordinating with weekend retreat groups ensuring smooth communication, informed customers, and full facility functionality-Designing holiday cards for donors-Assisting other team members with their projects throughout the year from hiring, staffing, erosion control, and facility maintenance

  As the High Adventure Directory at YMCA Camp Cherokee summer camp, I oversee the many moving parts of the program, as well as ensuring the safety of every participant. I will be returning for the Summer 2019, and having been working to develop new ideas for the program in the off season, as a full time YMCA Camp Cherokee employee.My responsibilities include:Managing the High Adventure Program including scheduling, staff training, and proper use and care of all climbing gear.Facilitating and leading weekly hard face rock climbing trips to Crowders Mountain for groups of 10 childrenGuiding weekly Canopy Zipline Tours at onsite courseCollaborating with fellow Program Directors to plan and ensure safe and successful campwide activities for ages 5-14Designing and implementing creative challenges for all elements (low ropes course, rockwall, zipline)

  During my time as a nanny in the United Kingdom, in my spare time I connected with the Grassroots Project, who quickly took me in to their family.The Grassroots Project (in Egham) is a sustainable, local organization that provides care and leisure services for adults with learning disabilities. More than providing their members with an inviting, engaging way to spend their day, Grassroots teaches life skills through garden based learning. Members tend the garden, cook meals from fresh foods, and have hands on team projects to maintain the facility.On my weekly visits, I supported members during life skills activities, chaperoned off-site trips, and assisted with physical tasks such as gardening.
