Rifleman (Team Leader)

2012 - 2014
I was assigned as a Fire Team leader to three other enlisted men and was tasked with the management and supervision of my men, their equipment, and their preparation to do their respective parts that contributed to the fireteam and rifle squad. I was deployed to Japan in 2011 as a member of a Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (2nd FAST Co.), where we were aboard a naval ship that ported along the Eastern Asian islands to continue establishing friendly ties with different military branches; furthermore, we had cross-trained in different room clearing tactics and standard operating procedures with different foreign militaries. I also contributed to providing humanitarian services while on board the USS Blueridge to the victims of the tsunami that took place in Japan (Operation Tomadachi-2011). In 2013 I deployed to Afghanistan with my infantry unit (2nd BN/ 8th MAR) to conduct aerial interdiction missions; sweeping and clearing areas of interest for any number of combat-related paraphernalia and personnel. During the duration of the 7 month combat deployment I flew on 8 different missions, provided security to British, Afghan, and US Army surgeons, and continued in training myself and my men for various combat situations. Upon completing my five years of active duty service I received my Honorable Discharge papers. Show less

Jun 2009 - May 2012
My responsibilities included keeping my tactical knowledge and physical shape to a constant standard in order to be able to deploy at a moment's notice to cordon, clear, and control a situation in the event one occurred at any US Embassy. During my non-combat deployment in 2011, I became part of the humanitarian relief for the tsunami that devastated Japan, known as Operation Tomadachi on board the flag-ship USS Blueridge. This included aiding in the acquisition of supplies from helicopters that would travel with cargo beneath them, to which they would lower onto our ship for collection and future distribution.
