For many years I worked with Daniel on building and maintaining a continuous delivery pipeline. Daniel is an IT engineer in heart and soul. He works as fast as he talks, always willing to take the extra mile. He is extremely curious in new technology, always being the first to have experimented with it. He has brought a lot of innovation to our team, and proved many times that it is more than just an idea. With his can-do mentality he created solutions that would otherwise never would have been realized. Daniel can solve the most complex IT problems with his extensive knowledge. Challenge him and he can do miracles.

Daniel is a fine colleague with excellent technical capabilities. Daniel introduced docker within ING and implemented a test framework with this technology. Later on he created and managed a completed docker cluster on Mesos, hosting over 1000 concurrent containers with Jenkins, OWASP and Sonar for our CDaaS Pipelines. The cluster maintained persistence making usage of CEPH replication technology. Daniel has helped the team become a global service provider for all DevOps engineers of ING worldwide. Great collegae to have in your team.

Like cats, but more argumentative. Sephia develops novel solutions for a wide variety of companies. In particular cloud agnostic clustered applications on Kubernetes, Linux, Dev-ops, extensive test suites and ML/Vision. More formally: managing director, tech lead and lead architect for a small but talented team of developers. Like cats, but more argumentative. Refactored and simplified the existing ETL process into easier to understand components using Airflow. Redesigning the entire backend and how to implement planned future projects. Also various R&D activities, mostly implementing machine learning for forecasting. Coaching and training of data scientists regarding challenges and approach from a developer perspective. In reverse chronological order: Designed and created a security proxy in Golang for secrets management and auditing in a CI/CD pipeline Designed and created a custom Docker scheduler in Golang for containerized instances of security proxies --- Designed, created and maintained a large Docker cluster (Mesos/Marathon) for hundreds of teams in a CI/CD pipeline. Including dynamic traffic routing and automatic failover Designed, created and maintained a large Ceph cluster for stateful storage of team configuration, including automatic failover and resilience. Both using Puppet and later Ansible on RHEL7 vm's in a private cloud --- Designed and created a test result server for storage via backand and retrieval via frontend of automated testcases in Nodejs Designed and created a testcontainer service for teams. Allowing maximum freedom in testtools for teams whilst enabling a standardized way to start tests in a CI/CD pipeline. --- Miscellaneous activities included technical security audits for subcomponents, workgroups and presentations of new technologies. Tested On demand streaming with HP LoadRunner and JMeter. Created an Cassandra database test bed with three nodes and production like test data. In addition, because the Cassandra JMeter plugin used (CassJMeterD) didn’t have the required functionality I extended it with searching on Secondary Index (available on Github) New performance tests, production load simulation and Cassandra performance analysis Performance test analysis, Java, Python, Linux, REST, JMeter, Extended plugin, Cassandra Show less

Created new tests for a data center migration project at bol.com. Helped streamline the process of script creation (Jmeter templates and Git) and added extra monitoring capabilities. Personal favourite test was the creation of a test which accurately mimicked actual production usage on the front-end user facing side of bol.com. This particular test helped finding and optimizing potential bottlenecks preemptively. Python, Java, Jmeter and Linux Created new tests for a data center migration project at bol.com. Test automation specialist Designed and created an end to end test automation framework in C# for a top 5 Shell IT project. This framework was then used to test tens of thousands of legacy tests but also several sets which were custom designed for maximum coverage. As the software is in (Agile) development the drivers used where all 'sub gui', operating via WCF/SOAP, SQL or Comtec where necessary. An abstraction layer was written between the drivers and the tests for general functional use within the project with the additional technical benefit of decoupling tests and drivers. Performance Tester After which the entire thing was multithreaded with additional points of measurement for use in performance tests. Due to the complexity of this software, standard tools like JMeter weren't used in this case. Show less

Performance testing an application with legacy foundations. Due to legacy foundations HTTP is barely used within this application. Apart from creating, running and analyzing the performance tests this involved reverse engineering an unknown protocol and handshake. In addition it was necessary to rewrite JMeter's TCP stack and message handling in order to test this application, which proved an interesting challenge. Designing a proof of concept for an automated regression test suite which interacts with a legacy IBM 3270 application. Apart from trying a commercial solution this also involved ripping an open source solution (OSS) apart in order to use its Java based IBM 3270 code as an custom OSS alternative. Java, TestNG, Maven and modifying an OSS IBM 3270 codebase for a more user friendly automated regression testing suite. Designing and implementing an automated regression test for the Alex and Binck online brokerage service. Hosting two (functional) unit testing evangelisation workshops specifically for developers. Coaching a Binck colleague in performance testing, in order for him to work on a special internal project. Most important was the framework: enthusiastic use of basic programming principles, inheritance and abstraction allowed for a very easy to use automated functional testing tool. Designed to have a very custom feel but with minimal points of maintenance. Regression test designed using FitNesse, C# and Selenium 2 / WebDriver Show less

Recent/Final projects: Itemedical: Proof of Concept for a client: Automated testing of Silverlight application. Parelsnoer: Developing from scratch a mock SOAP service and adapter for an existing .net application. Mock service was implemented in Python, rest in C#. Topicus: In cooperation with a very competent developer we delivered a faultless database merge/conversion for the client, using an expanded version of the tool quickly developed for Arkin. This allowed for a comprehensive automated database conversion test. Show less
