Christian Duell
I have been privileged to work with Daniele, firstly during our time at the State Library of Queensland and more recently in collaboration through White Light Education. Daniele is a highly accomplished and experienced facilitator having worked with a variety of diverse groups, using creative ways to ensure every voice is heard and valued. Her contribution to White Light has been invaluable; particularly in the way that she has been able to offer peer support and bring greater colour, creativity, play and empathy to our work. Daniele is a wonderful human being to work with and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to bring more heart to important and challenging situations.

As a multi-disciplinary artist who centres community and social practice; I will be using my time during ArtKeeper to creatively develop three key projects, with a focus on research and building relationships. These projects include: Looks Like A Tourist: A large-scale choreographic work responding to the disturbing and damaging effects tourists (and humans at large) have on our natural (and social) environments. Picnic for Birds: A new work in development exploring temporary structures which engage local native bird life in ‘feeding’. Raising concerns and issues around the ethics of feeding native wildlife, destruction of local habitat, while creating a contemporary performance installation from hand made ceramics, timber and found natural structures. Shared Plates: An artistic and culinary exchange between the artist and Gold Coast community where a meal and conversation is shared in exchange for a hand-built ceramic plate. The plate captures a key moment, story, memory or recipe from each exchange – exploring what it is that connects people with food and a sense of community. Show less

Project Coordinator
-
May 2019 - Aug 2019
I recently worked as project coordinator in support to Kate Baggerson on Everybody NOW's Gran Slam project. Gran Slam is a performance poetry masterclass and filmmaking project aimed at seniors is proving that the wordsmiths of wisdom still have a lot to say. Gran Slam is a collaboration between Feros Care and performance producer Everybody NOW, and shares a unified commitment to smashing stereotypes and supporting communities to live bolder lives. More than 20 seniors had the chance to be a part of the slam poetry revolution under the guidance of an expert poet and literary performer, David Stavanger. The project consisted of a series of poetry workshops that taught aspiring wordsmiths to give voice to their ideas and experiences. The project culminated in a performance that was captured on film and will be screened at a Feros Care bespoke event at Byron Writers Festival. Show less

Assistant Director
-
Feb 2019 - Aug 2019
I recently worked as Assistant Director to David Burton on Queensland Music Festival's original work 'The Mount Isa Blast'. This was a major theatrical production developed within a rigorous community engagement framework and process. "Queensland Music Festival returns to Mount Isa for an explosive outdoor theatrical spectacular! Created for, by and with the Mount Isa community, The Mount Isa Blast celebrates the people, the place and the pulse of a resilient, diverse and proud regional city. Expect stellar performances from our cast of hundreds of locals, including the supremely talented William Barton and Megan Sarmardin with BullDust and Mount Isa Community Ensembles Inc (MICE). This spectacle will draw upon Queensland Music Festival’s rich history of musical endeavours in Mount Isa, including the unforgettable Bob Cat Dancing (2003), Bob Cat Magic (2005), Swingin’ Utes (2013) and Mount Isa Celebrates (2015). The magical blast also unearths new talent and songs, as Mount Isa looks to the future. Featuring bob cats, motocycles, livestock, choirs and a symphony orchestra, The Mount Isa Blast will bring the community together to celebrate the past, present and future of Mount Isa, united in song." Conceived as a model for the library of the future, The Edge, launched by State Library of Queensland (SLQ) in 2010, is at the forefront of re-imagining libraries for the 21st century. With a mandate to empower Queenslanders to explore creativity across art, science, technology, and enterprise, The Edge is a visionary space for ‘creating creatives’; a melting pot of ideas, capacity-building, experimentation and innovation. I worked as a part of the Programming Team to deliver a range of community driven engagements across the arts, science, technology and enterprise.
