A hard-working professional and well-versed on a diversity of subject matters, Daniel has an extremely strong background with political and legal experience that make North Coast Strategies' PR service offerings both marketable and compelling. I've had the great pleasure of working alongside Daniel on several client projects and long-term contracts, and I have made referrals for Daniel on several occasions!

You would be hard pressed to find a better public relations practitioner than Daniel Cherrin. With each project, he combines his diverse experience as attorney and public-policy strategist with his communications and PR expertise. I have had the pleasure of working directly with Dan while we were both employed at the Detroit Regional Chamber, and as his client, while leading corporate and community relations at Guardian Industries. His leadership and public-policy knowledge was instrumental in the Chamber’s response following the events of 9-11. At Guardian, thanks to his dedication and support, we made great strides in advancing Youth Entrepreneurs of Michigan and he was called upon as consultant for crisis communications. Dan is one of the most creative thinkers I know, never shying from new ideas and practices and willing to pivot and experiment to meet his client’s goals. He is a true collaborator, able to bring business, civic and community leaders together for a common cause or project. One never needs to question his integrity and commitment. Dan is great friend and colleague. I strongly recommend Dan Cherrin.

It is a great honor to work with someone that has as much passion and industry experience in the areas of public relations and strategic communication as Daniel does. He is a pleasure to work with and the professionalism and dedication that he shows in his work is truly inspiring for a young professional such as myself. I look forward to following his example and becoming a great professional in my field, just as Daniel is in his.

North Coast Strategies is a micro-agency, leveraging a single-employee model to take on multiple projects. We understand that our clients have individualized needs, so we organize an experienced team of independent-thinkers and doers around our clients. Companies large, local, small and global have sought our strategic advice and counsel. This includes global manufacturers, national trade associations, local nonprofits, universities, governments, quasi-government agencies, startups, business executives and others in need of our support in protecting and enhancing their reputation in the public eye. This includes:01. Established and currently serves as the Executive Director for the MI Behavioral Health Wellness Collaborative, a 501(c)(6), giving community mental health providers in Wayne County, MI a voice in providing services to 200K+ persons by facilitating discussions with 18 community mental health providers.02. Facilitated a comprehensive transit plan for Washtenaw County, through a series of public meetings, that resulted in the approval of a 0.7 millage, by 71 percent of the voters, and adopted by the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners, resulting in the expansion of transit services in the county’s urban core and new communities joining the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority.03. Preserved the national integrity and reputation of The University of Toledo and University of Toledo Medical Center, by quickly and pro-actively working with the university president and provost to communicate and remain visible with key stakeholders and aggressive media outreach, after a nurse accidently disposed of a kidney during a transplant surgery and the Medical Center voluntarily suspended its live kidney transplant program, which was eventually restored.

I served as a member of the firm’s management team, leading the marketing and communications efforts for a 55-member law firm, while maintaining an active government relations, crisis management and public relations practice. While working for Fraser Trebilcock, I had an active portfolio of diverse cases, some which were nontraditional for a well-established law firm. This includes:01. Prevented the monopolization of ferry service to Mackinac Island, MI as the attorney and spokesperson for the city government, by building public support through aggressive media outreach and a litigation communications strategy to gain a favorable outcome by the Michigan Public Service Commission. 02. Protected the integrity and reputation of the VFW National Home for Children by avoid national media attention after a government investigation uncovered an unfortunate pattern of actions by one of their employees that eventually led to her arrest. 03. Developed strategic media partnerships to position the CEO of Vistage International as a national thought leader on small business issues, through the release of a quarterly CEO index, leading to consistent national coverage in The Wall Street Journal, FOX Business News and CNBC.

I established a law and public affairs firm that provides cutting edge practical advice where government action, litigation exposure, complex regulatory requirements, or a particular risk may impact an organization's reputation and bottom-line. This includes assessing the public risk of a transaction, using a multi-disciplinary approach of law, public relations and legislative/regulatory affairs to help clients achieve their business objectives.
