I have more than 30 years of experience in handling a variety of civil litigation matters in state and federal courts including defending healthcare clients in medical malpractice cases, representing insurers and insureds in tort cases, and representing businesses in commercial disputes. My representation of healthcare professionals includes representation in disciplinary proceedings with the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation. I have defended nursing homes and long-term care facilities in negligence actions and actions brought under the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act arising out of pressure sores, falls, weight losses, and errors in record-keeping. I have also defended attorneys and other professionals in actions based on claims of professional negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, negligent misrepresentation and fraud. I have represented numerous insurance companies and self-insured entities in the defense of personal injury and property damage claims arising out of motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, product liability, toxic torts, and environmental contamination. My commercial litigation experience includes representing corporations and individuals in business litigation involving breach of contract, breach of employment agreements, breach of warranties, and breach of shareholder and other corporate agreements. I am an AV-rated attorney by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and am recognized as a "Leading Lawyer" in Illinois. I am a past Chair of the Civil Practice & Procedure Section Council and the Insurance Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association. I am currently a member of the Tort Law Section Council. I have authored numerous articles for ISBA publications.
