(August 2009 – June 2015) Advisor: Professor Paul Schedl. I studied the role of chromatin elements called insulators in organizing the 3-dimensional architecture of the chromosome for differential transcriptional outputs. I discovered and elucidated a novel ~700KDa protein complex that regulates the insulator, Fab-7, in a developmental and tissue specific manner using genetic manipulations at the endogenous locus, protein purification, gel shift analysis, ChIP Q-PCR, and confocal microscopy. This work was presented at the annual Drosophila research conference and a manuscript is submitted for review. Thesis title : LBC AND ITS ROLE IN DEVELOPMENTAL MODULATION OF INSULATORS IN DROSOPHILA MELANOGASTER
