During a relatively short spell at Ness Furniture my aims were to aid in the streamlining of the production system by developing both a preventative maintenance plan and production planning rota. I developed a spreadsheet based system that took information from a 1980's piece of software and converted this into usable production data. I also carried out a full production report to analyse problem machines and where preventative maintenance could be used to increase production efficiency and reduce downtime. My time at Ness was successful and my original contract of 8 weeks was extended to 14 weeks to allow me to introduce further ideas to coincide with the McDonalds refit contract the company had won.
