As a foreman I was asked to create and foster the most productive construction sites possible. I was asked to manage the work force by hiring new workers and fire/let go of workers. I was in charge of leading 2-15 people at any point of time depending on the job site and project. I helped create daily/weekly plans and approaches to projects. Safety of everyone involved with the job site was my number one priority at all times, so managing all safety equipment and enforcing job-site rules was imperative. Often workers were suspended in the air by harness, on scaffolding, on JLG lift or on swing stages; the safety equipment’s functionality and integrity was literally a lifeline to employees. Often my boss (General Contractor) would have to be off-site for days at a time and I had to discuss daily and weekly plans with our business partners. I gained technical skills with power tools, masonry work, laying concrete, handling hazardous chemicals, laying several types of commercial roofing (EPDM, and Tropic roofing) and assembly of scaffolding and swing stages.
