Bio
Daniel Slonim
I know Daniel very well; I roomed with him for four years, and it felt even longer than that. Daniel has never been convicted of a felony that I'm aware of. In fact, I've never once seen the police come for him, unless you count when he accidentally set of the fire alarm in his D.C. apartment by burning the bacon he was cooking. That's not even a misdemeanor as far as I'm aware, and the police only came by to make sure everything was okay. But his good character extends beyond not being a convicted criminal. Daniel is outgoing, with a friendly smile and an even more friendly shrug, which he employs frequently. While he may come across as a procrastinator in some ways, he has a very good work ethic when it comes to things he cares about. He's the kind of person who never quits until he has done a job well. For example, when he started playing Portal, he relentlessly worked on it, and his determination payed off, driving him to finish the whole game in one sitting. He also invests a lot of time into DOTA, and he's become quite decent at it. Though he did not always keep our room and house clean, Daniel was, by all accounts, an excellent janitor, especially after he learned the hard way not to mix up the cleaning solutions for the whiteboards at school. On that one day, every classroom in the building had whiteboards that smeared terribly, but from then on it never happened again. This illustrates how Daniel is able to learn from his mistakes. This is an important thing to remember about Daniel, because if you think about all the mistakes he's made, it might be discouraging, but it is actually a sign of how much he's learned. Daniel is a man who takes initiative. I witnessed this firsthand many times, such as when he took the initiative on himself to cancel a Bible study he and I were supposed to be leading so that he could stay longer at a party with free alcohol. He has excellent phone skills if you can get past the fact that he talks too quietly and sometimes forgets when he was supposed to make a phone call. If Daniel visits your house, make sure you have plenty of food and no spare house keys lying around. If you do those things, he makes an excellent guest, although he might occasionally take to running circles around your living room and shouting if he's had a stressful week. All in all, I highly recommend this man for pretty much anything. Looks aren't everything; this is one quality guy.
