I currently work in a fast-paced laboratory environment at Kanes Foods ltd, a company producing a range of salad, stir-fry and coleslaw products. Skills acquired here include: - Practical skills in microbiology including, but not limited to: sample receipt, use of autoclaves and mini VIDAS®, production and QC of growth media. - Reporting out-of-specification results to line leader, liaising with factories and NPD on shelf life and process validation projects. - Microbiological validation projects for product and factory hygiene, as well as determining and reviewing shelf life of products alongside new product development. - Use of Microsoft office packages including Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. - Compliance with BRC, CLAS and ISO standards. - Liaison and conflict resolution between colleagues as well as other departments. - Time management, including being able to alter my sleeping schedule efficiently. This has proven very important in my current position, as the needs of the business have required me to come in as early as 4:00am some days, and work until midnight on others. - Training new starters in all the above Show less
