Graduate software role in a company providing audio visual software and hardware solutions for the entertainment industry. Coming from a Physics background with only a small amount of coding experience, my first three years in the industry have been a fantastic learning experience. In my first 6 months I used Python for an internal project management tool, using RESTful principles to develop an API which pulled data from various sources and performed an array of tasks including holiday event logging, developer time allocation, budget projection and progress summarising, as well as sending email notifications containing this information to devs and project leads. Over the last two years I have been working primarily in C++(making heavy use of the Qt framework). After honing my language skills working on an internal training application, and fixing bugs in legacy code for the Carallon Fixtures Database, I moved on to working on our flagship LED processing control software, Tessera. I was largely responsible for the development of our IP control API that allows users to manipulate the software HTTP and other transport protocols. This feature has received very positive feedback from the field and has helped us to become a dominant player in the emerging virtual production industry. An administrative role in a highly regulated industry. I learnt a vast amount of specialised knowledge in a short space of time, then applied it to the smooth management of customer’s accounts and the company’s relationships with other industry parties. Responsibilities included the handling of reading disputes and erroneous transfers, resolving metering issues and issuing bills. An administrative role in a highly regulated industry. I worked on the design of a module for aeroponic irrigation of crop roots in vertical farms. Following preliminary research I created and tested many prototypes using CAD and 3D printing. I also assisted in the building of the in-house test farm, which required practical workshop skills. In this project I improved my knowledge of materials, electronics, and general engineering principles. The company is a startup with a staff of less than 10, so I learnt a lot about all the different aspects… Show more I worked on the design of a module for aeroponic irrigation of crop roots in vertical farms.
