This is essentially 2 positions with similar responsibilities;1) System Administrator for 2 local school districts. This includes both normal sys admin work, as well as providing support for my local technicians.2) Grid Services. Essentially the same position, but providing remote support for all districts that we service as a company.

Largely end-user support for a local school district. Working with teachers and administrators in making their technology work for them. Computer repair, software installation, basic end-user training. Worked with teaching specific technologies such as smart boards, document cameras, and various presentation software. Managed student and staff accounts in AD, Google, and some 3rd party sites.Due to the needs of the district I ended up doing quite a bit of server management/repair as well which lead to my next position. Over the course of the year I virturalized several aging but critical servers and went from 12 physical servers down to 5 which greatly simplified the network while making backups and recoveries much easier. Also moved from an actively failing file server to a repurposed server.

Primary job was in 3 areas: 1) Volunteer Management During our 2 'open' days of the week I would make sure that team leads knew what needed to be done for the day, provided some QC, and worked with various teams on making things better and more efficient. This also included recruitment of new volunteers. 2) Equipment Donations Reached out to local businesses and organizations to donate their old equipment to us. Also did a few local TV spots and 2 radio interviews. For larger donations I would go on-site to pickup (stack/wrap/transport) equipment back to our warehouse. Also did warehouse management for the refurbishing end out the house. 3) Computer Sales As a self-funded nonprofit, the largest part of the job was in computer sales. This included working with several local nonprofits which we used as 'technology access partners' to reach out to potential customers. Also did a lot of customer support in both repairs, returns, and training. As much of our business was word of mouth, customer support proved to be the best and most consistent way to drive business. While those are the primary responsibilities, as a small business there were serveral other areas I became responsible for as well. Shopping for supplies, data deletion on HDDs and drive testing, general office cleaning during the week, and anything else that would otherwise 'fall through the cracks'. Absolutely fun job, and I am still involved there when I have the time to help. Left to be a full time student (Cisco Networking) and at-home parent of 2.
