I rarely interview someone that I know within minutes that I must work with them. Fortunately, I had that experience with Danny Joiner in 2011, and the following eight years of working together did nothing but continually reinforce that gut feeling. While I was, and continue to be, impressed by Danny’s extensive and practical knowledge of Excel, tax, accounting and GAAP, that just barely scratches the surface. Danny is a well-rounded, competent, multi-faceted individual who truly enjoys challenges and has a keen mind when it comes to problem solving. He is calm, logical, and methodical, and recognizes opportunities and solutions innately. While a Corporate Controller at Brown Integrated Logistics, Danny spearheaded and designed countless improvements and projects while overseeing the senior accounting team. It was a pleasure to observe him take on and tackle the challenge of people management, as he can communicate easily and concisely with anyone - from entry level personnel to the Board of Directors. Danny has a marvelously creative side and he is funny, engaging and quick-witted. He is not only naturally bright, he always prepares diligently, and is incredibly hard working. He is inherently self-aware has a purposeful vision. Brown Integrated Logistics is far the better for Danny’s tenure and he is greatly missed, but I can’t wait to see what this young man achieves next.

Daniel Joiner and I worked closely together during our time at Brown Integrated Logistics. I reported to Daniel and found him to be a very competent leader with a technical acumen that is hard to find. He maintained a terrific balance of pushing people to perform while at the same time developing strong relationships that were built on mutual trust. I found him to be a great teacher and someone that was always available to help me grow from both a personal and professional perspective. Daniel has a wide breadth of accounting and finance knowledge that results in the ability to problem-solve and tackle difficult concepts/issues that come up in large successful organizations. In my short time working with Daniel at Brown, I watched him develop a 5 year prospective plan for the organization with multiple moving pieces involved. He was required to adjust this plan numerous times, and I was impressed with his ability to be flexible and continuously improve the forecasts and implement new ideas. His understanding of the "big picture" and his ability to articulate how specific nuances impact the overall performance of the business was impressive. In the scope of this short project, I was able to develop a deep appreciation for his grasp on the numbers from both an accounting perspective as well as an operational one. My only regret in working with Daniel was that the timeframe was so short. I really enjoyed learning from him and working with him. I have no doubt that Daniel's work ethic and knowledge base will serve him well in future endeavors and that he will find success wherever his career takes him.
