A member of the technical team at Mexichem Specialty Compounds, a subsidiary of Mexichem. Responsibilities include the following: Formulation processes - Computing from a choice of raw materials a working ratio for production of a compound with a specific range of properties in mind. Production - Physical manufacture of a polymer/filler blend with unique additives to introduce a function to the final product. (addition of UV stabilizers or fire retardant agents) Testing - Sample preparation usually involving the extrusion of tapes and compression moulding of plaques, prior to an extensive range of physical testing, such as LOI tests, oil & water immersion, air ageing and other simulated weathering tests. (QUV, Xenon chamber) Development - Analysis of results and further consideration on how slight changes to the ratio may yield a more cost effective solution going forward, as well as a strategy to trim excess performance to be able to market a more competitively priced compound.

A quaint pub filled with history, vying for the title of England's oldest! Supposedly haunted with ghosts that will tell a similar tale. Whilst working for this establishment my day to day roles were fairly varied, considering the field: Managing/maintaining a real ale cellar: Keeping on top of the temperature, duration and position of each keg in an attempt to tap it at the optimum moment for maximum flavour and positive feedback from CAMRA members! Customer service: Serving food and beverage with a hint of charm, whilst catering to each customers individual needs in a timely and professional manner. Atmospheric contribution: Events and live music were big parts of the job, especially at weekends. Getting into the theme of the evening and projecting the mood into the crowd could prove vital to the weight of the till at the end of an evening, wedding functions being a prime example.
