Daniel is one of those rare leaders who is not only highly skilled and experienced, but also incredibly emotionally intelligent, who seems to handle complex situations and challenges with ease. No doubt aiding this is his impressive ability to communicate, his humble and humorous approach to many situations and his commitment to inspiring and engaging everyone in the journey. His forte for developing, and maintain relationships is second-to-none, resulting in improved partnerships and outcomes for all stakeholders. At West Arnhem this contributed greatly to the progress of the Jabiru township revitalisation as well as that of the wider region. While it’s often difficult for CEO’s to balance their time and attention to meet both internal and external needs and audiences, he did this with ease - being equally internal and external facing in his focus. As you’d want from the ideal for-purpose CEO, he is a true visionary who is ultimately driven by the intention to make a positive difference to the communities and stakeholders he serves. Whilst working with him I witnessed him deliver many new programs and initiatives and make key strategic changes - all with the benefit of the community in mind…e.g. enhanced community infrastructure and asset delivery, increased employment opportunities and reconciliation action plans to name a few. Time and time again I saw him empower those around him by playing to their individual strengths - providing staff and community members with opportunities to grow and shine. Launching quarterly Senior Management workshops, enhancing training and development programs, introducing awards and recognition and encouraging staff to explore new opportunities are just a few examples of the initiatives he implemented to improve results. I was lucky to enjoy a fabulous nearly two years working with Daniel, whilst he was the CEO of West Arnhem Regional Council, and know that anyone who also gets the opportunity to work alongside him will feel the same!

I had the pleasure of working alongside Daniel at West Arnhem Regional Council and experiencing multiple organisational successes such as an increase in staff satisfaction, reduction in staff turnover, delivery of more projects than ever before, increasing Council’s financial sustainability, and raising awareness around governance and WH&S throughout the NT. His ability to create a culture of success was infectious, and his achievements quickly elevated West Arnhem Regional Council to one of the best Councils/organisations in the NT. Daniel has an undeniable passion for the professional development of personnel and sincerely cares about staff. Daniel also negotiates through complex situations and relationships to achieve the desired outcomes. Please feel free to reach out and PM me if you would like to discuss Daniel's leadership abilities further.

West Arnhem Regional Council borders encompass some 50,000 square kilometres of spectacular outback landscape at the very top of the Top End. The jewel in our crown, the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, sets us apart as one of the most culturally important and environmentally significant corners of the Northern Territory. From remote islands and pristine beaches, to the vast floodplains and dramatic escarpments, our towns, communities and outstations are as diverse as the country around them. ----------------------------------------------------------- Some selected highlights of success include: Increased staff Alignment & Engagement ✔ Shortly after starting I outsourced an alignment & engagement staff survey to Insync, the initial baseline results when compared to 100+ other Councils across Australia had WARC in the below average range of engagement and bottom 10% of alignment. In August 2021 when asking the same questions and comparing against the same benchmark we scored in the TOP 10% of the engagement index and TOP 25% of the alignment index. Insync said "The increase in WARC's engagement & alignment scores from last year is probably the greatest positive move we have witnessed within any of our local government clients nationally." REDUCED STAFF TURNOVER ✔ 57% in 2019 to 32% in 2021, realising a savings of over $1.5 million per year. CAPITAL PROJECT DEVELOPMENT ✔100% more capital projects delivered in FY 21 compared to any other year in West Arnhem Regional Council History. Show less
