Duties included but not limited to: • Perform regular inspections, tests and repairs of all designated electrical and electronic equipment ranging from machinery equipment, dynamic positioning system, navigation and radio equipment including GMDSS, communication equipment, galley and laundry, fire alarm systems and batteries. • Assist and complete annual DP trials / 5 yearly Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) trials • To maintain planned maintenance systems and complete appropriate records and report as designated by the chief engineer. • To keep the chief engineer fully informed as to the progress of any work which I have undertaken and inform the chief engineer of any defects or problems encountered in my area of responsibility. • Keep all manuals and drawings up to date with the systems on board. • Making in depth risk assessments, conducting tool box talks and completing permits to work where required and use of the lock out tag out system. I also have multiple dry docking experience (5 year dockings / project mobilisation) which include carrying out vessel upgrades / system upgrades, class inspections and daily meetings with project managers / super intendants / dock workers. I was working alongside the electrical department, my role as a cadet involved assisting with the planned maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of electrical and electronic equipment ranging from LV systems, engine room machinery, bridge navigation equipment (GMDSS, radars etc), fire alarm testing to accommodation equipment / hotel services including galley appliances.
