Project Management (Placement Year)
-
Jul 2009 - Aug 2010
Part of my role consisted of training out a new Quality Management system across eight of the company’s sites throughout the UK. This required a great amount of responsibility and real accountability as both managers and staff relied on my training and guidance to be able to use the system on a daily basis. I was involved in co-interviewing prospective employees for the company. This behind the scenes look at the recruitment process gave me a chance to observe both sides of the employment process, and allowed me better insight into employment at a very high level. I was presented with the opportunity to extend my industrial placement by two months in order to complete a project management assignment which involved taking responsibility for members of staff, for the task of installing new machinery across each site. This developed my organisational and interpersonal skills to help build relationships both with sites managers and my individual team. Show less

I worked closely with the HR Director at the Hilton London Kensington Hotel. My main responsibilities involved organising and running the recruitment fair which took place within the hotel. I organised and prepared the HR documentation for the vacant positions. In addition, I also conducted interviews for the vacant positions and provided feedback on the interviewee’s progress. I was involved in co-interviewing prospective employees for the company. This behind the scenes look at the recruitment process gave me a chance to observe both sides of the employment process, and allowed me better insight into employment at a very high level. Show less
