You know the old saying 'surround yourself with people better than you'... well that's the first thought that came to mind when I thought about writing a recommendation for Dan. In the past year Dan has been an exceptional community lead for our Design team. From day one, his energy and deep knowledge of learning & knowledge management helped Dan make an instant impact in our team and the broader organisation too. First thing he did? Delivered the most structured skills & capability needs analysis I have ever seen. This was the foundation for all the other activities that followed and ensured we looked at learning initiatives in a strategic fashion. Dan also helped to mature our guilds/communities of practice by giving them structure, wrapping governance around it and leading & supporting guild leads to be successful. Dan's very good at engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels of seniority, I witnessed this first hand. He's a change agent inside the organisation, gets the job done and - most importantly - is a great person to work. You'll be lucky to have him.

Dan is one of the best leaders I’ve had the opportunity to work with. There are many ways that Dan influenced my development, but I will focus on three. Mentorship, program management and stakeholder management. Dan is a true mentor. He cared personally about my development and provided candid, appropriate and timely feedback on all my efforts. He had a way of always picking me up after delivering difficult feedback and really taught me to see feedback as a gift. Dan taught me a great deal about program management. His expertise in managing global programs surrounding culture change and learning is impressive. His great expertise in culture change and learning analysis allowed him to build a full learning needs analysis framework that we used in multiple programs across our global knowledge platforms and programs. And finally, Dan’s stakeholder management capabilities are second to none. He is keen to know all he can about all the stakeholders in a program and learns about all of their drivers. He is a keen observer of people and, because of his empathy he is able to naturally bridge divides, make people feel heard and is very responsive to questions. He has this amazing ability to stay on message while also making the people on the other side of challenging conversations feel heard and respected.
