I have known Dan Carrel for almost 20 years. Before retiring, I was associated with Woodbine Development Corporation as both chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Within those capacities, my responsibilities included dealing with human resource-related issues, including compensation (both primary and incentive), as well as the day-to-day employee-related issues that arise within any company of significant size. Woodbine, now an almost 50-year-old company, was previously affiliated with Hunt Oil Company and relied heavily upon the Hunt organization for support services, including those relating to human resources. Dan was a senior member of the Hunt organization and the primary point of contact in dealing with such issues. I found it a great pleasure interacting with someone who was not only quite personable but had an extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal human resource laws and regulations and, just as important, a practical perspective in how such regulations should be applied. Dan maintained an extensive knowledge of market conditions, which made him an invaluable resource as we dealt with both primary and incentive compensation issues. His guidance also allowed us to make objective decisions regarding the more sensitive employee matters. My tenure with Woodbine was made much even more enjoyable because I was able to work with people like Dan.
