I strongly recommend Daniel roles in either embedded systems design or software development. I worked closely with Daniel while he worked as a summer intern at H3D, Inc. during the summer of 2022. His main project was to design, lay out, procure, and test a printed circuit board to send gamma-ray dose rate information over a satellite network from remote locations to a central repository. In twelve short weeks, Daniel was able to quickly understand the problem and develop specifications for the prototype. He researched a multitude of integrated circuits and selected parts (ICs and passive components) for the embedded system while monitoring supply chain issues. He used Altium Designer to effectively capture his schematics and then laid out the PCB, carefully considering part placement and power/ground planes. He worked in the Energia IDE to write firmware to control an MSP430 MCU and communicate with various sensors via I2C and UART co-located on the PCB. Finally, when the board arrived fully assembled, he was able to rapidly debug minor issues and we were able to complete the project on-time and exceeding expectations. Daniel is an extremely bright and curious individual. His intelligence allows him to quickly learn new skills. He strikes a good balance between asking questions when he needs assistance and learning independently via on-line resources. I also saw Daniel work well as a member of a team. He is very cordial and respectful, and he deals with minor disagreements in a professional manner. Daniel was very enjoyable to manage and a great person. He is self-motivated and a hard worker. He was a great member of our company. I strongly recommend him for future roles!

Planned and constructed schematic design and routing on a 4-layer PCB for solar powered monitoring system using Altium Designer featuring power management and wireless communication. Utilized C to write and test firmware to process data taken from radiation sensor to write onto micro SD card. Attended weekly meetings with management and mechanical team discussing timeline and scope of project as well as mechanical implications and constraints of design.
