  Rouge Farm Corps is an Oregon based organization whose goal is to teach the next generation of farmers through hands on education. As an intern I was required to live and work on a host farm, attend weekly agriculture classes which almost always included a tour of a local farm that best exemplified the topic of the day (seeding, weeding, tractor operation etc). • Successfully managed and conducted daily farming activities including: seeding, planting, harvesting, weeding and watering on a 15 acre farm with more than 300 varieties of organic vegetables and herbs. • Learned how to maintain native plant buffers, pollinator habitats and a riparian area. • Regularly installed and repaired drip irrigation lines on all 7 acres of production. • Thoroughly cultivated 7 acres of vegetable crops from seed to harvest. • Meticulously managed greenhouse seeding cultivation and transplant of 7 of acres increasing plant propagation. • Safely perated heavy farm machinery to prepare landscapes for seeding and planting. • Redesigned and implemented new composting system to improve soil fertility. • Kept multiple bee hives for honey collection and packaging for local market sale. • Managed farm booth at multiple farmers markets while providing information to patrons about nutritional value of vegetables, cultivation practices and recipes. • Processed and packaged multiple value addition items including jams, salsas, and hot sauces.
