  The Equipment and Materials Testing Laboratory (LAPEM) is a fundamental area of support in the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy of the Mexican electricity company (CFE), essential services and of specialized engineering that we carry out, ensure the correct operation, as well as the quality control of the materials and equipment acquired by the CFE. Through engineering services, tests, analysis, diagnostics and behavior studies of equipment and materials, we contribute to the Efficiency, Quality, Reliability, Continuity, Safety and Sustainability of the CFE and the national electric grid. One of my activities at the LAPEM is as Protection engineer where we supervise the maintenance of protection equipment of an electric power distribution system to reduce interruption to service. We coordinate the repair, tests, and installation of equipment and the study by computer simulation of new development to determine the suitable application to the protection system. Also LAPEM has a specialized laboratory on solar energy tests where we test all devices related to the solar energy industry such as inverters, PV modules, wires, connectors, etc. this can be tested in the field as well as in the laboratory where we take advantage of high specialized laboratory equipment to perform root cause analysis to determine the possible reason for product failures and develop corrective actions or to knowing if the tested devices comply with the regulations IEEE, IEC, UL, NMX or NOM where LAPEM is certified. Apart of the all mentioned above another activity of the office where I work, it is the engineering studies of the Mexican grid code using specialized devices to measure all the parameters related (sags, swell, flickers, harmonic distortion, PST, PLT, etc.) where we determine if they are according to the indicated in the official Mexican norms (NOM) this for emit and inform to the Mexican energy regulation commission.
