Selected to represent The University of Sussex at the National Model United Nations conference 2019 in New York City. I attended weekly sessions to master public speaking skills and interpersonal skills ready for the conference. I was chosen to be in the General Assembly First Committee representing the Netherlands positions on International Security. The conference has greatly improved my understanding of the functionalities of the UN as well as improving my ability to act diplomatically in a multilateral environment. I was honoured to see the working paper I helped draft, negotiate and pitch, which focuses on improving authority and oversight of the IAEA to enact a Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty, be accepted by over 100 represented nations in the General Assembly Hall and officially passed as Resolution 1/7.
