During my time as Acting Director of the GMSH I developed new skills and provided dedicated leadership ensuring that the GMSH continued to meet it's organizational mandate. A highlight of my time in this role was supervising the planning, delivery and evaluation of Ontario's first Gay Men's Mental Health Summit. This 2 day conference brought together 120 advocates, academics and professionals working in area's of mental health & substance use from across Ontario. Additionally I, Directly supervised 3 staff in the delivery of core GMSH activities Provided fiscal & organizational oversight in accordance with all policies and procedures Represented the GMSH at local, provincial and national events Produced ongoing updates for GMSH.ca and assured quality of other GMSH sites including The Sex You Want, Our Agenda and others Increased GMSH communications via KTE newsletters and expanded social media reach Actively participated in provincial initiatives including HIV Resources Ontario, Ontario HIV Epidemiology and Surveillance Initiative, Investigaytors program and various research project teams as a collaborator and Principal Knowledge User

This role was my introduction to my professional experience in the area's of HIV prevention, sexual health promotion and program development and implementation. I thrived as part of a small team of passionate advocates responding to the needs of marginalized communities. Funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada, highlights of this role included: Developing community led interventions in the area's of sexual health promotion, HIV prevention, and STBBI testing/awareness Fostering partnerships with Public Health to expand the offering of sexual health services outside of clinics and in community settings including bars, bathhouses and inside the organization Expanding the reach of a social support group for gay, bisexual and queer men living with HIV Developing the organizations first online outreach program utilizing apps like Grindr and Squirt. Engagement with key external and internal stakeholders (government, federal funders, academia, community based organisations, professional networks etc.)
