I worked with Dana for 5+ years on two different products, Alpha Testing and Portfolio Simulation, which are both high-end products within FactSet. Dana is one of my favorite product managers to work with. He is very detail oriented and knows the products inside and out. He can tackle questions from clients without even bringing them to engineer's attention, just by troubleshooting within the application itself and across various other applications that can validate certain features. Even if he can't solve the issue, he can narrow it down for engineers, so that it's clear what area of code should be addressed. This is not always easy, given that a bad number in one are of the product could stem from a bad number earlier in the calculations. It could also be that the issue really stems from outside of our products, such as a bad database value for a price or dividend, and Dana made sure to cross-check the numbers across multiple applications to determine whether this is the case. Dana also contributes to high quality testing of new features, and is extremely good at finding edge cases. In addition to being a great product developer, Dana is fun to talk to, and is knowledgeable across a wide range of fields. He pursues all of his passions, whether they are Bridge competitions, improv comedy shows, chess matches, etc. and it is fun to see what he'll be up to next!

Dana was the Product Developer for my engineering team in FactSet's Quant/Risk group. We worked to define the goals and direction of both the Custom Risk Models feature in the Alpha Testing product and the Rules-Based Trading feature in the Portfolio Simulation product. Dana, my engineering team, and I worked together in the development of, but not limited to, step-wise factors, exogenous factors, and principal component analysis on the Custom Risk Model side, and both net constraints and portfolio value constraints on the Rules-Based Trading Engine side. Dana was always very concise in his specifications, and was always extremely knowledgeable and helpful about the statistics behind those efforts. He was also very methodical in testing those features. Dana was also very helpful in working with sales specialists in determining the cause of issues they found, and working with them to build models for their clients to use. Everything that came our way was carefully analyzed by Dana first. It was a pleasure working with Dana, and I learned a lot from him during my three years as the manager of the Quantitative Applications engineering group.
