Participated in a semester gap program with community service work in Fiji, and adventure travel in Australia, and New Zealand. The most impactful experience from this program was living through the destruction of Cyclone Winston which struck Fiji a couple weeks after our arrival on the island. The aftermath of this devastating natural disaster opened my eyes to the vulnerabilities of small island nations and made me think about their sustainability in a world where climate change is making these natural disasters more intense and frequent.
