Steven McKnew

Dana is a wonderful communicator and as a consultant/coach to her Air Force Wing leads. They are always very impressed by her hard work ethic and ability to learn new tasks without hesitation. Not only is Dana a great team player but I have seen her teams rely on her to work autonomously and get the job done whenever necessary. Dana is always willing to help others without being asked by providing guidance and expertise, but also spending time doing research to determine what the real problem was through customer discovery, which is a great quality to have and recognize.

I lead the development of innovation teams across the 108,000 members of the Air National Guard. I am responsible for training new personnel, evaluating proposals for new projects who are asking for funding, and provide support for ongoing innovation projects. I manage the innovation portfolio with all projects that Squadron Innovation Funds (SIF) fund, and report each year to ANG leadership. I have helped develop and now run a training program to teach innovation fundamentals to operations focused teams. Along with that, I facilitate and coach teams working on focused innovation projects, introducing them to resources, funding partners, and ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed all while enforcing policy and applicable directives when necessary. I have established relations with deep ties to every corner of the DoD Innovation Ecosystem. I facilitate in person training and briefings to all ANG Wings on the innovation program to include ANG Leadership, Chief orientation and Command Chief orientations. I have been part of hosting over 30 training events as well as ARCWERX Hub hosting events at our location as well as in other locations throughout the country. Show less

I served as the Protocol Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Wing. Organized and assembled high profile visits for the 162d Wing. Visits that included international and stateside high ranking officials from four star Generals to the lowest ranking and other government officials ranging from Secretary of Defense, Congressional leadership, Legislative leadership, Governors, Senators, Mayors and many more. Organized and managed many ceremonies such as awards ceremonies, retirement, and promotion, change of command, ribbon cutting, and varying in size from 2,000+ down to 50. Provided extensive training to POCs from each group within 162d Wing so they could start to take on some of the responsibility within their own group. With that training I provided slides with step-by-step break down of the process of each ceremony. Provided a binder with templates and examples of each common ceremony, instruction manuals they could refer to with any questions for further guidance as well as a disk with the ceremonial music used. Encouraged all to get hands on and assist me with any type of visit or ceremony so they could get hands on training. I attended three official training courses for Advanced Protocol Training.I also provided administrative assistance to the Wing and Vice commanders, as well as the Command Chief and other group commanders. I managed schedules, performed administrative responsibilities, incoming and outgoing correspondence, and special projects.Manpower document POC for the headquarters squadron. Managing position movements, training upgrades, promotion and other reasons. Show less
