  Engaging with children through play, by exploring their interests and expanding on them through learning. My classroom is full of natural materials that allow the children to discover what interests them and from there I plan my learning experiences with them. I want learning to be a journey that is fun for them and not set in stone, because no two children are the same and nor do they learn at the same pace. By creating an environment that acts as the secondary teacher, it allows the children to use their natural instincts of exploration to discover what peaks their own natural instincts. On Mondays and Thursdays, I teach music to my preschool and kindergarten students through discussions and demonstrations about rhythm, beat, repetition and sounds that certain instruments make, and we also make our own instruments out of every day materials. I am also currently teaching music class to the toddlers, where we are learning new songs, and are discovering the joy of making sounds.

  Currently learning through my mentor what responsibilities that an Designated Early Childhood Educator has within the Full Day Kindergarten Program. I have made three pedagogical documentations, completed ten experiences and brought in ten provocations for the children to explore with. I have also taken over the daily schedule on more than four occasions and feel very confident and comfortable with this age group.
