I had the pleasure of managing Dan directly for a period before we moved to a skip-level working relationship. When I think of Dan, things that stand out include: - how he's an incredibly talented engineer, able to pick up new things seemingly with ease - his fantastically creative technical mind, and ability to spot opportunities for change - his generosity to others, and always being willing to share knowledge Dan's technical skills have gone from strength to strength since we've worked together, and he's grown to be a well-respected and liked engineer who's trusted to deliver business-critical work. He's successfully on-boarded and mentored other engineers at Monzo, gaining extremely positive feedback from his peers. Recently he's also taken ownership of our specialist on-call rota and documentation, something that he's always contributed a lot to. Dan's always learning, and always seems to have a new side project on the go which he's keen to share. Over our time working together I've thoroughly enjoyed hearing about these (and being jealous of his seemingly endless creativity!). Dan's enthusiasm is also evident in work. He's a beacon of positivity and a real joy to have on a team. I have absolutely no doubt that Dan will go very far, and should our careers go in different directions in the short term I would have no hesitation in hiring him again in the future. Any company would be lucky to have him.
