I was very lucky to have been able to work for Dan, first at VeriSign as one of his reports, and more recently as a contractor when he was at Return Path. I’d universally recommend him as a way to drive success into virtually any marketing campaign. He has a rare ability to just generally bring out the best in people, and cultivate up-beat, creative, hard-hitting teams. Dan is one of those rare bosses that truly embodies all the traits of a modern manager: leader, mentor, coach, and trusted advisor. Dan always put his people first and showed empathy to everyone which made him loved and admired by everyone that worked with him. Dan was also able to successfully execute the company's entire re-branding efforts (including re-positioning, new website, new messaging, updating all assets, and more) in a seemingly impossible short time frame, but never showed signs of stress or frustration. He was able to guide the entire marketing team and company through this exercise successfully as well. Dan will continue to be a friend and mentor to me for many years and decades to come.
