The Great Run Company is the UKs biggest mass participation sport business. Every year people take part in events and campaigns that they develop and operate nationwide. They put on numerous events each year, each with a supporting children’s event, across 8 major cities, with over 200,000 participants, and watched live on TV by an audience of 6 million+ viewers.In this role I specialised in the operational planning, management and delivery of these events (projects). I worked at TGRC assisting in the operational planning and delivery of mass participation sporting events. My role at the organisation is varied with day to day tasks including: liaising and negotiating with suppliers, preparing infrastructure plans, recruiting volunteers and crew, planning for potential new events, and creating resident I’ll mail out information. My work requires me to be extremely focussed on the detail in each task and to manage my time efficiently, due to the range and extent of jobs that I am asked to undertake. I have to carefully consider the wording, layout and preparation of the documents I create so that they meet the high standards set by the organisation.
