First contributed to the development and release of our MVP with the rest of the engineering team. Up to the first half of my tenure, I've continued with product development in collaboration with our lead designer and product manager. Although there was front-end work to be completed (React/Redux), I've had more interest in the backend/infrastructure work (Typescript, NodeJS, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Azure). For the second half of my tenure, I joined the newly-created DevSecOps team, where I reported directly to the CISO. It was in this team where I focused on supporting our Engineering and Data Science teams' needs as well as focus on infrastructure and security initiatives (CircleCI, Terraform, Azure). Some of the tasks required (to name a few) were setting up private AKS clusters for use within our VNETs (adhering to RFC 1918) + peering and private links, integrating Azure Active Directory to our AKS clusters for cluster access via RBAC, networking setup and security within our Firewall (+ rules), and supporting our pen-testing efforts + remediation. Lead and owned initiatives and proposals for improvements within our current infrastructure and systems. * Proposed the use of Istio within all of our AKS clusters for increasing our security position (mTLS + certificate rotation, also ultimately enabling HSTS by default), overall maturity and support level for solution, and ease/abstraction of networking rules. * To reduce overhead of our GraphQL services' development and support, proposed the use of graph databases with GraphQL support * Hardened access to our storage accounts that are used in our Databricks instances to further protect PII and sensitive data (eventually setup our data governance solution in our private network to support this) * Lead and setup our Kafka cluster on AKS, delegating k8s pods onto specific nodes via pod affinity/anti-affinity and Azure Node Pools + tuning exercise Show less

Worked on and lead various projects with different teams per contracts set with our customers. During this period I've refocused my interests from the Microsoft stack to open source software. I've gained more experience on the front-end (React/Redux (ES5 + lodash + CSS-in-JS), Material UI, Mapbox) with an introduction into DevOps and infrastructure (Docker and Kubernetes utilizing Azure AKS, SSL/TLS (create CSR via openssl and submit to CA + installation of certs on an NGINX ingress controller in k8s + DNS setup). Supported back-end development using Node.js (ES5 + express) + MySQL + Azure CosmoDB (Gremlin). Show less
