President
-
Mar 2014 - May 2018
As Director of TEDxUniversityofAkron, I led a group of highly motivated students who provided a platform for the latest and greatest innovations across all fields in the rustbelt. The independently organized TED event provided me with a glimpse of what civic engagement and new perspectives can bring to a region seeing a focus on research and community development. In September of 2015, I lead a team to produce the second TED talk at the University of Akron. TEDxUniversityofAkron saw over 300 attendees and the eight speakers discussed topics from business to biomimicry. My role as vice president involved directly working with donors and fundraising. Additionally, I was tasked with the preparation of technical aspects of the event. This position provided immense insight into prioritizing resources and time management. Because of the international acclaim of the TED organization, we had to meticulously work out every detail and contingencies for problems in advance and on the fly. The management of the event gave it the propulsion necessary to sustain and enhance the overall experience. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event.

Aug 2016 - Dec 2016
During my second rotation, I functioned as a mechanical engineering design intern. Working closely with an employee-mentor, I quickly learned the design workflow of the company. The previous experience in the Innovation Center was immensely helpful, as I often recalled machine constraints and production standards. This second position with the company gave me autonomy over several design projects and component life tests because of my high functioning work ethic. The design experience was a beneficial compliment to the previous production experience.

At my first internship (Cooperative Work Rotation), I worked in rapid manufacturing at the "Innovation Center". This position provided hands-on production experience and associate level responsibilities. Operations consisted of processing 3D designs and operating the laser-punch machine along with related processes to produce essential prototypes and assist with production shortfalls. Additionally, this position exposed me to industrial FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)/ 3D Printing workflows. The Innovation Center position provided me with the perspectives, knowledge, and the processes required to construct parts and prototypes.

Auditorium Technician / Media Specialist
-
Sep 2009 - Jun 2013
A theater technician is responsible for operating audio and visual technologies along with rigging and equipment maintenance for the Revere Local School District. The position required a training period and knowledge of the lighting, sound, and back stage systems and subsystems. Larger events had up to 6 technicians operating separate systems under the direction of the Head Technician. For district wide events, teams of two would be presiding over the many systems required for a stage production and were financially compensated by the district. I gained leadership experience as the Head Technician for 2 years (2012, 2013). The head technician was issued keys to several doors in the school with the expectation to use when appropriate. Time management, interpersonal skills, and adapting to shifting technical difficulties were all skill sets essential to the job. The sound equipment and resources owned by the district was dated and malfunctions were common. Much of the job involved crisis management and troubleshooting the faulty equipment. I enjoyed and excelled at analyzing situations requiring a innovative solution as soon as possible. Quick fixes came together with the help and management of the other team members and working with the actors directly to diagnose and address problems. I was awarded top commendations in 2012 and 2013 for the dedication and performance of the technical theater position.
