I worked in the SCC's Climate Ready program, where SCC is focusing our efforts on increasing resiliency of natural coastline and communities to the impacts of our changing climate. My work involved support of managed retreat, urban greening, carbon sequestration and natural infrastructure projects that protect California's disadvantaged communities and prepare the state for the inevitable while reducing California's contribution to climate change. • Dec 2016 - May 2019

Graduate Student in the Marine Science Master's Program at SFSU Graduate Teaching Assistant for Undergraduate Marine Ecology I investigated the bleaching response of sea anemones from freshwater runoff in the San Francisco Bay. Local sea anemones host algae cells in a symbiosis that is affected by runoff. Runoff quantity and quality is predicted to change as global climate change affects local precipitation rates. The loss of this symbiosis is a drastic alteration to the lowest level of the rocky intertidal food web. Other duties included citizen science advocacy, education and outreach, climate change and sustainable coastline awareness, and humanizing the scientist
