JEST testing framework and Sinon are used to write front-end unit tests and JUnit 4 is used for unit testing on the backend. Last spring we implemented a new micro-services project called IACUC using Spring 4 and Activiti Business Process Management server 5.21 into a SAAS architecture supported by AWS. Communication between different services is done via REST api calls using Feign for the most part and data is stored in Postgres schemas. A Test Driven Development (TDD) approach is being followed by writing tests early and often. Spring Boot, Spring Security and annotation-based configuration are prevalent in this architecture.
