  • The job involved the construction of a new 27m diameter 20m deep shaft with a vac flush column in the centre for storm water storage• Construction of an RC inlet channel 2.5m wide and 3m deep which tied into the shaft to deliver the storm water. Constructed using a designed proprietary formwork system • Rehabilitation of 10No storm water storage tanks which involved the construction of RC weir walls in each for overflow conditions.• Installation of new 1050 and 1500mm diameter pipelines and 2.4m diameter back drop man holes and head walls from the existing storm tanks to the outfall channel• Alterations to a large existing CSO chamber and the installation of a new powered screen for when the system is in storm conditions and goes into overflow• Construction of various RC kiosk bases for HV and LV, along with the required ducting routes for supplies. A control building was also constructed which was a large RC slab with incorporated a duct trench with a steel frame and block and brick cladding• My Role at Blackburn WWTW: Programme upcoming works from the contract programme. Pre let meetings with successful subcontractors Putting together sub contract packages alongside the site manager and QS Order Materials and allocating labour and resource for programmed works  Writing and Briefing Risk Assessments and Method Statements. Temporary works coordinator - Writing design briefs gaining approval on and ordering systems for items of work - single and double sided shuttering and trench support. Issuing permits to load and strike, carrying out required inspections on all items of Temporary works. Managing direct and sub contract Labour on site  Mentoring a Graduate Engineer  Ensuring company HSQE procedures were followed and all the correct paperwork was complete and in place. Taking part in monthly design review meetings to highlight any concerns or potential solutions

  • The job was to aid flood alleviation in Keswick, works involved a large shaft being constructed using the secant piling method and associated pipe work and chambers for the storage and redirection of surface water.• My role at Keswick UID: Programme and manage works carried out by direct labour through a large supermarket car park outside the main site, which was a very PR sensitive area. Taking off and ordering materials and plant Write and brief Risk Assessments and Method Statements. Manage sub contract works again on a section of works outside the main site which involved approving Risk Assessments and Method Statements and ensuring that all health and safety and QA paperwork was in place and in line with company procedure. Temporary Works Coordinator - Writing design briefs gaining approval on and ordering systems for items of work - Cofferdams, reinforced concrete chambers, deep drainage trench supports. Setting out for drainage systems and shuttering.

  • During my 8 year period at FG Whitley & Sons I worked on a range of smaller infrastructure jobs from £100,00 - £1 million incorporating all aspects of infrastructure - Car parks, deep drainage, highways works, ducting were I was responsible for all elements of setting out. • As my time progressed I was put to manage smaller satellite sites for a principal contractor as part of a framework for welsh water which involved me looking after all the health and safety paperwork for the site following Quality procedures and documenting the process. There was also a lot of interface with the general public which involved building good relationships and maintaining them. • My time concluded by managing a maintenance contract at Airbus UK were I was responsible for liaising with the client, receiving jobs then ordering the necessary materials and resourcing the plant and labour to complete the job to a required deadline.
