  As leader of the department, I managed a team of Engineers and Technicians to provide reactive/planned maintenance as well as supporting the developers in research and development of new technologies and techniques. I had a direct reporting line to the board with full accountability for controlling the departmental budget and achieve set targets and KPIs. A key project included the complete an upgrade of the single largest Wonderware Intouch system in the world, including migration to a new platform, object design and multiple systems based centrally and remotely. I took ownership of the migration of multiple systems based centrally within a logistics centre and remotely at site level as part of the upgrade project. Furthermore, I wrote all architecture and PLC code to the Infinis PLC and SCADA programming standards for subsequent roll-out of new Rockwell PLCs across 123 UK locations.

  In this role, I managed the department and completed the design and implementation phases of new PLC, HMI and SCADA systems for a range of company projects. I developed internal PLC and HMI standards both in documentation and software code function blocks (Siemens) and add-on instructions (Rockwell). This is in addition to developing new technologies for use within the business and creating a single board computer system for use at remote sites for network monitoring and OPC data collection.

  In this senior management role, I was involved in the +$4billion project at the largest aluminium smelter in the world situated in the Ras Al Khair region. I was a lead member of the project programming standards team with the remit to design different vendor PLC and SCADA programs with Bechtel programming standards. I had full accountability for creating designs for bespoke add-on instructions, UDT’s and SCADA global objects and assisting vendors in writing PLC and SCADA code for equipment using project standards. I utilised a range of Rockwell automation systems to produce functional design specification documents and write comprehensive PLC and SCADA code from scratch. As a leader, I continually drove the development of existing and new data types and add-on instructions on behalf of Bechtel, including custom and bespoke options.

  As Lead Systems Engineer, I participated in the phase 2 extension of the current aluminium smelting operation for a US $4.5 billion project to create the largest smelting facility in the world. This included attending factory acceptance tests, reviewing PLC and Factory Talk Scada and HMI software to meet project standards as well as writing code in-house for numerous systems.   Gaining promotion to General Manager, I had full responsibility for the management of Biogen Greenfinch's flagship site, a 3mW anaerobic digestion plant. I managed the site including all personnel, plant budget control and oversaw all engineering activities including plant upgrades. I was proactively involved in the maintenance of existing technology, design and build of new anaerobic digestion plants and implementation a new electronic chart recorder system using previous expertise. I also implemented a new electronic chart recorder system to assist with site records and developed a completely new SCADA control system with full remote access and a secure web server to display the SCADA to remote users.

I selected, installed and set up the instrumentation and incorporation into the control and SCADA systems, using diverse I/O and instrumentation devices both digital and analogue, working on site during the entire commissioning period.
