This is a full-time, elected, sabbatical officer role to represent the views, interests and experience of the student body at Canterbury Christ Church University. This has been an unprecedented time for students and my role so far has been both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. This role has helped me develop the confidence to operate in different environments and forums, working with students 1-1 and in groups to address their specific concerns, working collaboratively with senior colleagues as well as speaking at public events. I also chair the Students’ Union Board of Trustees meetings and the SUUPF (Students’ Union and University Partnership Forum) meetings.

      • Jul 2020 - Jun 2021

In my second year at university I was appointed Sports Editor of the student news website, ‘UNIfied’, and was made Editor-in-Chief in my final year. As Sports Editor I was the lead reporter on the university Varsity events and was responsible for live streaming games, interviewing players, live blogging and round ups at the end of each day. As Editor-in-Chief I had ultimate responsibility for content.

Working in this busy, community-focused shop allowed me to gain valuable customer service skills. Working throughout the pandemic necessitated that I worked proactively as part of the team to serve our customers under what were sometimes difficult circumstances.
