  - Alongside the completion of my masters, I undertook the role of consultant with 180 Degrees’ Exeter branch, whose aim was to provide consultancy to businesses and charities focussed on effecting social change.- With my team, we worked closely with social enterprise, ‘The Black Curriculum’, whose aim is to bring black history to the syllabus for teaching in schools throughout the UK.- The brief was to provide a strategy for utilising social media to drive youth engagement with The Black Curriculum, as well as creating an ambassador scheme.- I was responsible for the in-depth analytics of the proposed strategy, involving both quantitative and qualitative analysis which I then presented to the Executive Committee at the end of the project.- Months later it was great to see my recommendations being implemented yielding successful results.

  I undertook a four-week placement as a Financial Analyst Intern within the Finance team (c, 100 FTE). - Placement involved a rotation with Commercial Finance, Operations Finance and Cash and Banking teams. Gained great insight into the different finance functions, the team culture and respective skill sets, as well as how the broader business operated.- Responsible for a range of tasks including analysing performance variances and identifying factors that influenced performance, including weather, holiday seasons and promotional activity. Asked to present to the Head of Commercial Finance, where my analysis was praised and contributed to the selection of promotions for the following year.- Prepared detailed analysis of several stores which I visited with the Operations Finance Director. I lead the store performance presentations which was a great opportunity to practice my written and verbal presentation skills.

  Grant Thornton is one of the largest accounting networks in the world, providing assurance, tax and advisory services. - Worked with several different audit teams across a range of clients, both on and off-site, notably JD Weatherspoon. - Given access to each pub’s performance over the fiscal year, I provided a list of outliers that needed to be flagged up in the audit, utilising proficiency in excel to expedite the process. - Resulted in finding several pubs that had been missed in the original review that needed further attention, aiding the integrity of the final audit. - Particularly enjoyed the on-site audit experience, the exposure to different clients and the strong team culture.
