Hiscox University Data Challenege (Winner)
-
Feb 2019 - Mar 2019
Researcher in the winning team of the 2019 University Challenge run by Hiscox. After a period of 12 years with no hurricanes, there had been many new entrants into the Floridian homeowners insurance market. We were faced with the challenge of cleaning a large database of claims data in Florida, and developing innovative KPIs to help give Hiscox scope of who to reinsure in the wake of Hurricanes returning to the state.I progressed my skills in R through developing and modelling potential financial and geospatial performance indicators, as well as refining my researching skills to find new ways of tackling the problem at hand.

Team Supervisor
-
May 2016 - Sep 2018
Alongside my studies, I was a supervisor at the National Rifle Association in Bisley for two years. In this time I was responsible for overseeing employees at the largest labour intensive shooting centre in Europe. Abiding to strict health and safety procedures under live firing conditions, I developed strong supervising and team management skills that I implemented to coordinate a large team of people. In addition, I was a supervisor for the summer 2017 Imperial Shoot, a commonwealth wide competition that adheres to the highest standards in the shooting world. As well as learning how to make difficult decisions under pressure, I developed strong interpersonal skills through communicating with both central office and clients to ensure that the competition ran safely and on schedule.
